Legal, in plain terms
Privacy: we collect very little,
here is all of it.
This site exists to have conversations with travellers and trade partners. It collects the minimum needed for that, and nothing else. The whole policy fits on one page because the practice deserves to.
What we collect
Enquiry forms. If you write to us through the trade or Partner Trip
forms, we store the fields you typed (name, agency, email, message), plus your IP
address and browser string — kept for spam control. The data lives in a Cloudflare
D1 database (EU-region available) and is emailed once to our working inbox.
Email. If you email hello@privatechinajourneys.com, we have whatever
you sent us, in our mailbox.
Website analytics. We measure two things, both anonymously.
Cloudflare Web Analytics is cookieless, collects no personal data and counts page
views, not people. Our own engagement counter is even more austere by design: for
each page view it stores only a running total per
day × page × country × device class — views, summed dwell time and the count
of very short visits. It stores no IP address, no browser string, no session
identifier and no cookie, so the numbers can never be traced back to a person
or stitched into a journey across pages; the aggregation happens at the moment of
writing. We use it to learn which countries read which pages and for how long —
aggregated statistics only (legal basis: legitimate interest, GDPR Art. 6(1)(f);
aggregates retained up to 13 months then pruned). If your browser sends
Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, our counter does not
run at all. This site sets no cookies and uses no advertising or
social-media trackers.
What we do with it
Answer your enquiry, prepare a trip proposal if you ask for one, and keep a record of the conversation. We do not run newsletters you didn't ask for, we do not sell or share your data with marketers, and we do not feed it to advertising networks. When a trip proceeds, licensed local partners in China receive the details needed to deliver your booking — and only those.
Your rights (GDPR)
You may ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. One email to hello@privatechinajourneys.com with the subject "privacy request" is enough — we act within 30 days, usually much faster. If you believe we've mishandled your data, you may also complain to your national data-protection authority.
Data hosting
The site is served from Cloudflare Pages and our form handler runs on Cloudflare in EU-adjacent infrastructure. Email is processed by our mail provider. Form records are kept while a conversation is live and pruned within 24 months.
